India can be an amazing travel destination, especially if you’re interested in spirituality and culture. However, it can also be difficult to visit India, due to the fact that India does not offer visa-on-arrival to tourists from most countries (although this policy may be changing soon). This means that in order to visit India as a tourist, you have to complete an online application for your visa – which can sometimes be a challenging process, especially if you’re not familiar with how this type of thing works.
Tip 1: Prepare your photo
Make sure your photo is a recent passport-quality photo with a white background. When taking photos, avoid shadows and unflattering poses. The online system requires that you upload your photo along with your application. There is also an option to print a visa sticker and affix it to your passport; however, if you choose to go this route, make sure your picture is of good quality.
Tip 2: Complete your personal details
It is important to complete all your personal details correctly on the India Visa Application Online. When you are filling in your passport number, make sure it is correct and not abbreviated. If you have any corrections to be made in your name, immediately inform to avoid any further delay. Do not miss out on checking all other information in case of incorrect spelling or typos. Always apply well before your proposed date of travel and check if you can apply for e-visas or offline visas. All passports must contain at least two blank pages towards the end of the passport apart from one used page with an Indian Visa stamp affixed thereon.
Tip 3: Passport Details
If you are applying for a passport, it is important to know if your current one will expire before your date of travel. If that’s not possible, you can still apply; it just means more paperwork. So make sure you’re ready and organized before starting your India visa application online. Also, check whether or not you need a letter from your employer or school to prove that you’ll be able to return when finished with your travel plans. This requirement is different based on citizenship status.
Tip 4: Applicant Details
Make sure all of your details are correct. This includes your name (your legal name, not nicknames or shortened versions of it), contact information, address, visa type and dates. Sometimes applicants accidentally enter their intended stay in days instead of months, or they write down a different visa type than what they’re applying for; make sure you double-check all fields before submitting. If you discover an error after you’ve submitted, use Track Document to edit your application before it is submitted to avoid any problems!
Tip 5: Update your address details
While filling up your application form, remember to update your address details. If there are any changes in your residence or contact address, you should edit them. To help you in updating your details, we have given below a video tutorial that will guide you through each step of the India Visa Online Application process. Check it out and complete your application without any hassle.
Tip 6: Enter dates of travel, place of stay, and duration
Be specific when filling in these details. For example, if you’re planning to visit between May 16 and May 23, enter 16th May 2015 – 23rd May 2015 as the date of travel, Mumbai as a place of stay, and ‘10 days as the duration. This will help avoid rejection due to incomplete information. You can always update your travel dates later if need be by logging into MyVisaPage and updating it on the go!
Tip 7: Save your application on the final page
Be sure to save your application before closing it out, so you can return to where you left off if need be. Make sure that you print out a copy of everything (it’s possible that your printer will run out of ink). If you don’t have access to a printer, try emailing a friend or co-worker from your smartphone—you may want their help in reviewing and revising your application once it’s completed. If all else fails, head over to one of India’s public libraries and ask a librarian for help printing—libraries usually offer free printing services. While many people find completing an India visa application online to be tedious and challenging, these seven tips should help you move through it with ease. Good luck!
